Le Petite Spa 331 N. Larchmont Blvd, Los Angeles (323) 466 1028
Already raved about by the likes of Cosmopolitan, The Hollywood Reporter and Vibe, this intimate day spa tucked away in Larchmont feels like a friend’s comfortable home where warm tea, a serene patio and myriad pampering treatments await. The indoor-outdoor haven which was one of the first to introduce massages and facials as same-room couples treatments, was designed by Master Roy Shabla, a Feng Shui master, and incorporates the principles of the 5 Chinese elements – wood, fire, earth, metal and water – all of which are evident from the fountain and fireplace in the cozy lounge, and the wood floors and metal objet d’art around the property.
Upon approaching the spa, which was blessed by nine Tibetan monks from the Garden Shartse Monastery, you are immediately greeted by the eclectic mix of music that can be heard from the parking space. Once you’ve changed into a plush robe and settled with a cup of herbal tea, the treatment begins with a warm scented neck wrap to relax you. Early arrivals can also take advantage of an aromatic cedar sauna that can jumpstart the detoxification of impurities and toxins.
While the spa is touted for all kinds of facials and body treatments, their signature offering is the Jade Stone Massage Therapy, which is unique in that it uses both hot and cool stones to massage your body and prep it for a deep tissue session – so essentially, you benefit from a combination of massages. The heat relaxes the muscle tissue and the cool (almost icy) stones are supposed to reduce inflammation and flush toxins through lymphatic system. You’ll discover bliss the moment the first warm stone is applied to your back and rubbed down your spine. From that point on, prepare to experience nirvana.
