Elegant, stylish and tucked away in the prestigious Carlyle hotel, the Yves Durif Hair Salon is home to Color Director, David Johnstone who has over fifteen years of experience under his belt. His collaboration with owner Durif brought about his weapon of choice, “balayage”, thereby creating more sophistication in color.
“I get my inspiration from the real world,” Johnstone says. “I watch how the light actually plays on things in nature, especially in my garden. For Fall/Winter 2010, I’m doing subtle brunettes, auburns and lots of dark russets to compliment the geometric angles in clothing. I love New York women, there’s a crispness and immediacy to them.”
