On the weekday evening we paid Howard Murad’s sprawling establishment a visit, there was a palpable buzz in the air because of a new product launch where they were expecting at least a couple of hundred people to show. This will come as no surprise to those who have religiously used the good doctor’s skincare line and flock to his spa for the many signature treatments, one of which is the IP5 Illuminating Peel.

 

Whisked away into one of the 18 treatment rooms, the facial begins with the customary cleansing ritual after which a proprietary blend of exfoliants – glycolic, salicylic and lactic – are applied to the prepped skin. The peel, which is monitored closely to ensure only mild discomfort as it sloughs away dead skin, also contains beneficial ingredients like Indian fig and Vitamin-C esters that help to brighten the complexion instantly. A round of extractions, surprisingly pain-free, thanks to the aesthetician’s superior technique and skin prepping, strips you off the pesky blackheads for that minimized-pore, porcelain look.

 

A heavenly back and shoulder massage that might just knock you out and warm paraffin hand treatment are included as bonuses. It’s also worth noting that true to the spa’s medical background, the treatment is ministered in a sterile fashion where cotton buds, gloves, gauze and dosage cups are used to prevent any cross-contamination.

 

This is a great treatment for those needing an instant lift and glow for that special evening, and only one of the more than dozen facials that will make a fan out of you.
