TRAVEL FITNESS
The Savvy Traveler recently sat down with Todd McCullough, one of America’s top personal trainers and fitness expert, to get time-proven, successful fitness tips for their corporate executives to incorporate effortlessly into their hectic travels. An unbelievable 100K miles within a 6 month span!
Why Todd?
While training may be a hobby for some, Todd McCullough has dedicated his life to fitness. He began training as a kid in his dad’s gym and he recalls his early childhood laughing about it now: “I think I knew how to do lunges before I could drive a car”.
This strong foundation helped make Todd an All-American Linebacker in High School, landing him a football scholarship on the # 1 ranked Florida Gators! Todd’s many accomplishments include playing professional football in Europe, earning him respect from other athletes and celebrities alike.
Here are 2 Savvy Traveler fitness tips that Todd advocates:
1) Pack your sneakers and workout gear on the top tier of your suitcase (as a visual reminder to work out before you lay down to rest). As they say: out of sight, out of mind. So, pack strategically and Jetlag won’t have a chance!
2) With any cardio that you do, sweat is the key. Todd encourages a variety of activities to ensure success. Whether running, dancing or playing sports, the key is to do it for at least 20 minutes to get your heart rate up.
3) Pack smart. Throw some healthy snacks in your carry on (apples, bananas, almonds, etc). That way, you will refrain from devouring any unhealthy high-carb items that might be served on the flight.
4) Drink plenty of water during the flight. If plain water is too boring, add a few slices of lemon or orange peels to make it tasty. Also, drink water from a wine glass and make it a treat!
