The ever-popular Josie on Pico Boulevard celebrates its 10th anniversary by giving foodies an affordable, more casual option, literally next door. The no-fuss yet elegant room with an airy and sprightly mix of contemporary and industrial elements, takes no reservations and offers seasonal famers' market inspired American cuisine by Chef Josie Le Balch.

 

The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere, but without compromising aesthetics so it will work for a date just as well as it can for a business lunch. The walls proudly display inviting red wines and netted corks, conveying that quick and casual doesn't mean frivolous and that foodies can enjoy over twenty nine wines by the glass.

 

The menu is split between "small snacks and sides", "bigger snacks and appetizers", "sandwiches" and "big plates and entree salads" to allow for sharing and sampling. The brandied chicken liver mousse, while not as memorable as the option at Santa Monica's Fig, is creamy and worth a try. A summery grass-fed flatiron steak salad with romaine, radishes, green beans and asiago cheese is deliciously filling. For dessert, a chocolate brownie with walnuts and fresh cream hits the spot for two.
