ALORA
AMBIANCE
describe their unique line of reed diffusers as “air freshener
art”. These 16oz bottles, reminiscent of medicinal bottles you
would expect to find in an apothecary, disperse pure fragrance
through the wicking reeds leaving behind a subtle aroma to tease
the senses. The newest scent, Caldo, blends woodsy notes of
sandalwood, patchouli and vetiver ideal for meditation or a
prayer room. For Hollywood moms-to-be, Bimbi, a gentle

lull any cranky baby to sleep.

Nuts
about TOKIDOKI!
When Italian-born Simone Legno was illustrating for the likes
of Volkswagen and Toyota, he could only have dreamed that one day his
love of everything Japanese would whisk him to America and his adorable,
edgy icons would be flaunted by only the most style-conscious
urbanites.

Serendipity was at play when his personal website was
discovered by the co-founder of Hard Candy and her husband, and they
fell in love with Legno’s sexy and sophisticated designs. Not only did
they fly him out but Legno was made the offer of a lifetime: Move from
Rome to Los Angeles and share Tokidoki with the world.
Legno’s remarkable impressions are evident in the sexiness of
the horned, peppered vixen on the Diavoletti shirt or the dark cuteness
of the cherubic Grim Reaper and Usagi rabbit. January 2006 will see the
unveiling of the Tokidoki LeSportsac, alive with a whole cast of Legno’s
cartoon characters including Cactus Girl and Latte, an animated carton
of milk.
Tokidoki may mean “sometimes” in Japanese but there is
nothing haphazard or casual about Legno’s creations or his “Japanisme.”
“It’s something I feel inside. I am totally astonished for everything
that comes from Japan, the beauty of their tradition to the super pop
flashy aspects of the super modern cities.” It’s worth mentioning that
in person, Legno has the humility and childlike wonder that must be
essential to the creation of his characters. He makes people root for
him even when his talent alone is sufficient to make the mark.
Who can resist?
