Ona cloud… 7373 Beverly Blvd Los Angeles (323) 931-444
Aptly christened to mean “everything good” in French, Ona Spa is the quintessential beauty Mecca plugged into every celeb’s PDA. The east-meets-west haven boasts a roster that includes Natalie Portman, Lucy Liu, Reese Witherspoon, Brittany Murphy and Quentin Tarantino, and is located in the historic Original Spanish Kitchen building above the renowned Prive Salon. In a town where vanity’s demands are diverse and ambitious, Ona brings under one roof myriad services that cater to not only every inch of your body, but also your smog-beaten soul. Where else can Botox and Ayurveda, Color Sensor Therapy and Zoom whitening reside so harmoniously under one roof?
While smaller than most spas, Ona is intimate and thoughtfully designed. Paying an impressive amount of attention to detail – from the rustic art pieces on the wall to eastern furnishings (Adrianna Home in Malibu) – Ona makes you feel as if you’re not just on the second floor of a building, but elevated on a cloud. Even the plasma in the waiting room enchants with a carefully selected DVD seducing with scenes of India and scored to the mesmerizing qawwali of Begum Abida Parvin and the poignant sarod of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan.
If cheesing for the camera hasn’t proven rewarding lately, Ona provides the popular Zoom treatment in its medical treatment room and the dashing Dr. Jay Khorsandi is whisked in especially for this treatment. He lodges impossible looking devices into your mouth before applying a film of bleach on your teeth and exposing them to patented bluelight technology. You will find that looks can be deceiving because the medieval apparatus is surprisingly comfortable and in the hour it takes to transform your smile, you can easily take a nap. But if you’re lucky enough to read this before going in, take your i-Pod along and let Nat King Cole serenade you to (what else?) Smile, of course.
The Ona Touch facial starts with the effervescent Bridgette who preps your skin by cleansing it, exfoliating it with an enzyme peel and then ministering a lymphatic drainage massage to detoxify the skin. Then we are put in the able hands of Nurse Eugenia Shakhnoff who uses a state-of-the-art Harmony Laser (the next generation to the IPL) to deliver the photo facial aimed at collagen stimulation and skin tightening. She begins by applying a cold ultra-sound gel and then pulses of light are fired on to the skin, little firecracker shots that warm the skin and activate the benefits. Finally a chamomile mask cools off and soothes the skin and you are ready to take on the night with a startling glow, tighter pores and a smile that makes people ‘Zoom’ in.
