Jurlique Inspired by Nature

Founded in Australia by Dr. Jurgen Klein, a scientist and naturopath and his wife Ulrike, a horticulturist specializing in herbal remedies, Jurlique prides itself in being a holistic skin care system that takes directly from nature.  The skin care line, already a hit with celebs like Nicole Kidman, Gwyneth Paltrow and Katie Holmes, uses ingredients that are grown in a proprietary herb farm at Mount Barker and Mylor in South Australia. 

The concept spa in glitzy Beverly Hills attracts the same bevy of celebrity fans and offers myriad treatments using the precious organic line.  Walking into it is like walking into a perfumed garden.  While simple in its décor like the signature packaging of its coveted products, the intoxicating fragrance of essential oils dance around the spa and promise a journey of the senses.

We start with a thorough examination by Angela, whose enthusiasm for the product range and ‘the Jurlique difference’ is genuine and surpasses mere endorsements from a staff member.  The treatment commences with a unique but essential part of the Jurlique regiment – minutes of warm compresses with the Aromatic Hydrating Complex (available in solutions including Lemon & Lime, Lavender, Rosemary & Sage, and Chamomile & Rose).  This calms the senses, opens up the pores for exfoliation, in turn hydrating and facilitating the absorption of nutrients. 

The exfoliation with steam is also done in a unique ‘press n’ release’ motion which is less abrasive for sensitive skins and also helps with the lymphatic drainage so that impurities are still leaving the skin but through the system as opposed to being pushed onto the surface of the skin.  This is followed by a gentle extraction and a rejuvenating face, neck and shoulder massage using the popular Rose Hand Cream (a hit with Alicia Silverstone).  An OPC Mask packed with herbal antioxidants revitalizes the visage while puffiness, swelling and dark circles around the eyes are eliminated with the potent Eye Gel with eyebright and arnica. 

The final step is the Herbal Recovery Gel which is Jurlique’s premium treatment moisturizer and contains turmeric, green tea, grape seed and vitamin C to combat signs of aging.  This incredible gel which is the star product in the treatment line is ideal for all skin types and had been dubbed the “facelift in a bottle.”
