Under a faux-clouded marble ceiling surrounded by everything sleek and soothing, you will find it hard to believe that you are in the midst of prime Beverly Hills shopping.  For more than 46 years, Ms Thibiant has become synonymous with superlative professional skin care.  The message here is inadvertent but effective - If you're going to spend hundreds and even thousands on draping your body at the surrounding shops, why not start with the body itself?  The focus is on feeling and subsequently looking beautiful.

 

This year, Aida Thibiant in Beverly Hills celebrated its 30^th anniversary and to mark this event, a makeover in collaboration with TAG Galyean, internationally recognized spa architect, was unveiled.  The result is unique and refreshingly against the grain of L.A.'s spa culture.  A reflection of American Fusion, the spa now showcases many visual and cultural aspects of American life in the present century, an example of which is a stunning fountain aptly called 'Welcome.'  The atmosphere is cozy so that you feel like you've walked into the house of an old friend where a cappuccino and biscottis await.  Aida explains, "the stresses of modern life and the aggressions of the environment are the greatest barriers to beauty." 

 

Cristiana, who has worked with Thibiant for over 17 years, starts you off with a customized facial by borrowing aspects from the entire Facials menu to suit your individual needs.  We focused mainly on the Mixed Fruit Exfoliation Facial in which the face was first covered with light gauze and painted on with a fruit peel that made the skin tingle.  This was followed with extractions to remove gunk and free clogged pores and then the skin was soothed by a collagen gel massage.  For the mask, Cristiana took the extra step of customizing per facial area rather than just skin type and this further exemplifies the kind of attention offered here.  The results, as you can imagine, were glowing.

           

Another Thibiant star is massage therapist, Johanna, who has earned such accolades as having the 'hands from God,' "magical hands' and 'body psychic' so that a 50-minutes session with her becomes close to a life altering experience.  Again the strategy is to tailor the treatment according your personal needs so that a blend of the Swedish, Deep Tissue and Sports massage are often ministered to the client in the same treatment.  It's easy to see how one's greatest fear after visiting Johanna, would be to lose her in an industry where therapists are always migrating.

           

Perhaps because Thiabiant has been around long enough, she doesn't feel the need to buy into changing spa aesthetics that may not agree with her own personal style.   A result of this is that Thibiant remains the reliable, familiar alternative where loyal clients keep coming back for warmth and pampering the way and from the people they have always remembered.
